Stanley Tong is planning an Yiquan movie!

Stanley Tong learned several forms of martial arts as a child. In 1970 he first encountered yiquan. He started his movie career in Hong Kong as a stuntman. Then because of injuries, he had to switch to another job, and first became directors assistant and then stunt-coordinator. In 1989 he formed his own production company.

He was asked by Jackie Chan to direct "Police Story 3: Supercop" and "Police Story 4: First Strike". He also directed the hit "Rumble in the Bronx" and "Mr. Magoo" with Leslie Nielsen. In 2005 together with Jackie Chan he made "The Myth". Presently he is producing "Chinese Zodiac" directed by Jackie Chan with his own screenplay.

On 16 January 2010 Stanley Tong was present at Wang Yufuang's (Wang Xiangzhai's daughter) 91 birthday party, participating in baishi ceremony, becoming her official disciple.

At the party Stanley Tong announced that he is planning to make a screen movie and TV series about yiquan. Preparatory work should be completed this year, and actuall shooting should start in 2011.
